Brandi Rhodes and Allie were backstage to draw their colors and they both got red, so the Nightmare Sisters will be a team in the tournament.

Penelope Ford was backstage with Kip Sabian and drew baby blue. Mel then walked up and revealed that she also drew baby blue. They seemed glad to be partners.

Dustin Rhodes and a returning QT Marshall accompanied the Nightmare Sisters to the ring.

At the end of the match, Kip Sabian attacked QT Marshall on the outside, which distracted the ref. Allie raked Mel’s eyes and Brandi nailed her with a spear for the win.

Winners: The Nightmare Sisters

KiLynn King/Skyler Moore versus Allie/Brandi Rhodes

Rhodes begins with King. Tie-up. King backs Rhodes into the corner…Rhodes uses her speed to bring King to the mat. Boot to King’s midsection. She hits a running elbow stunning King. She goes for another one but Allie blindly tags in and connects with a running strike of her own. Allie picks up the pieces after Rhodes did the damage…Allie goes to the second rope…Rhodes slaps herself in, but a distraction from Allie gives King the opening to take the advantage. King traps Rhodes in her team’ corner and tags in Moore. Quick tags by Moore and King…they go for a double-team but Rhodes pulls them into each other. King boots Rhodes in the face, then Moore yanks Rhodes down by the hair. Moore powerslams Rhodes for a nearfall. Rhodes hits a stunner out of nowhere and tags in Allie. Allie unloads on Moore, then mimics Dustin Rhodes with a drop-down punch and bulldog. Allie with an elbow across Moore’s neck. She lets Brandi Rhodes come in and score the winning pinfall.

Allie/Brandi Rhodes win by pinfall

Brandi Rhodes actually thanks Allie after the match, with hints that these two may finally be on the same page as a team. They were introduced as the Nightmare Sisters.

Brandi Rhodes was the ring announcer for tonight’s show!

It was time for the main event!

The Inner Circle (“Big Hurt” Jake Hager, Santana and Ortiz, accompanied by “The Spanish God” Sammy Guevara) vs. The Elite (“The American Nightmare” Cody, accompanied by Arn Anderson, Matt Jackson, and “Hangman” Adam Page, with Kenny Omega at his side)—with the winning team earning the advantage at “Blood & Guts!”

Le Champion Chris Jericho joined the broadcast team for this match.

Santana blindsided Cody at the start of the bout. Cody countered with a powerslam! Matt and Cody utilized quick tags to cut the ring in half and work on Ortiz. Page ran in illegally with a boot to Ortiz.

Matt speared Santana, gaining a bit of revenge for his brother Nick Jackson, who wasn’t medically cleared to be at the event after last week’s brutal assault.

Page got the tag and followed through with a clothesline to Santana.

“You can’t go into a match with the Inner Circle with any animosity amongst your own team, and they’re too stupid to realize that,” said Jericho about the Elite.

Hager handed Cody over to Ortiz for the stalled suplex. Santana whipped Cody into the guardrail. Jackson had seen enough and began nailing Ortiz with stiff shots to the head!

“Cody has got to try to get one of his partners from the Elite into the match-up,” said Taz.

“I don’t like him but I respect him,” added Jericho.

Hager started the ground and pound on Cody. Hager put the pressure on Cody, who was trying to reach for his corner and a tag. Hager rammed Cody into the turnbuckles of the Inner Circle’s corner!

Cody rallied back with the Cross-Rhodes on Ortiz! Cody began crawling to his corner, but Hager tagged in and tried to stop him. Cody flipped Hager over the top rope!

“Hangman” was tagged in finally and cleaned house! He scooped up Santana with the fall away slam, and then went over the top rope onto Hager! Cody connected with a tope suicida onto Ortiz! Cody went after MJF at ringside, but Wardlow grabbed him by the throat. “Nightmare Family” head coach Arn Anderson hit Wardlow with his clipboard!

Back in the ring, Page and Jackson suplexed Hager! Jackson had Santana up and called for the IndyTaker to Page, but Jackson was rolled up after Page was pulled from the ring apron! The Inner Circle won the match and the advantage in “Blood & Guts”!

Chris Jericho took a microphone and celebrated with the Inner Circle at the top of the ramp, rubbing the victory into the face of the Elite. Jericho said at “Blood & Guts,” the Inner Circle would have the Elite outnumbered, since Nick Jackson was out indefinitely with an injury suffered at the hands of the Inner Circle.

There was a loud buzzing, and down came a drone, landing in the center of the ring!

Matt Jackson said he had called in a favor to help the Elite.

Piano music began to play, and there, standing in the balcony of the arena, was MATT HARDY!

Catch all the explosive action as AEW DYNAMITE is broadcast on TNT next week!

QT Marshall (accompanied by Brandi Rhodes and “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes) vs. the Inner Circle’s “Big Hurt” Jake Hager (with Santana & Ortiz at ringside)!

Hager quickly wrestled QT to the mat. QT tried jumping off the middle rope and Hager hit him with a running shoulder. Dustin Rhodes paced outside the ring. The fans chanted for QT as he tried to fight back with fists to Hager’s midsection.

Hager went for the Vader Bomb but QT got the boots up, and then followed up with some explosive right hands. QT attempted a swinging DDT but Hager tossed him across the ring and locked in the standing arm triangle to put QT to sleep!

Dustin Rhodes ran in to break up Hager’s hold. Santana, Ortiz and Hager triple-teamed Dustin Rhodes until Cody ran down to help Dustin and QT! Cody was taking care of business until he was hit from behind. Santana, Ortiz and Hager were hammering Cody but then Matt Jackson joined the fray to help!

Matt Jackson superkicked Ortiz and Santana! He stood toe-to-toe with Jake Hager, punching him down to one knee! Jackson ran into the ropes but Hager kneed him.

“Hangman” Page slowly strolled out with a drink in hand. “Hangman” put down his beer in the corner and started clobbering Santana and Ortiz, then used the Buckshot Lariat to pounce Hager.

“Hangman” Page gave a middle finger to Matt Jackson and then left to grab some beers from the ringside fans.

After months of tension, it was time for MJF (accompanied by Wardlow), against “The American Nightmare” Cody!

At ringside were Brandi Rhodes and Cody’s coach, “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson.

Cody hit an uppercut and then a cutter, but MJF kicked out at one. Cody got a full head of steam down the ramp and clotheslined MJF back into the ring, taking a page out of the Great Muta’s playbook! Cody hit an Alabama Slam on MJF, and then rained fists onto him. Wardlow pulled MJF out of the ring by the legs. Brandi threw a beer into Wardlow’s face, distracting him, giving Cody enough time for a tope suicida!

The momentum shifted when MJF gut wrenched Cody! MJF’s pacing became very methodical here, working over Cody with a double wristlock. MJF was targeting Cody’s shoulder, applying the Salt of the Earth arm bar. Cody crawled desperately and broke the hold by biting onto the bottom rope!

MJF, aware that Cody broke his toe during his recent cage match against Wardlow on DYNAMITE, removed Cody’s wrestling boot. MJF began to chomp down on Cody’s broken toe!

After being busted open by Cody, MJF hit the heatseaker. Wardlow held down Cody’s legs from the ring apron as MJF tried for the pin, but ref Paul Turner saw the interference. Brandi Rhodes jumped onto Wardlow but the giant caught her, barely budging. Cody demanded that Wardlow put Brandi down without hurting her. Wardlow obliged. Cody went for a thrust kick to Wardlow, but Wardlow moved. Cody inadvertently connected with Arn Anderson instead!

MJF planted Cody with the Double Cross-Rhodes! He removed Cody’s weight belt, but before he could whip him with it, the ref pulled it away. Cody grabbed the belt and gave MJF a taste of his own medicine! MJF began groveling at Cody’s feet, begging for forgiveness. MJF then spit in Cody’s face. Cody gave MJF two Cross-Rhodes, but MJF knocked out Cody using the Dynamite Diamond Ring for the pin fall victory!

Shawn Spears (w/Tully Blanchard) & Peter Avalon (w/Leva Bates) vs. Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall (w/Brandi Rhodes)

Avalon and Marshall begin the match. Marshall sends Avalon towards the ropes. Avalon runs back and lands a hip block. Marshall tags in Dustin. Dustin tries to lock in a handhold and Avalon rolls out of the way to tag in Spears. Spears and Dustin lock up. Spears with a side headlock, follows it with a shoulder tackle. Spears mocks Dustin. Dustin does not look amused, goes for a scoop slap. Dustin has Spears in the corner and strikes him 10 times. Dustin keeps it going with multiple jabs. Avalon steps in and Marshall takes care of him. Dustin tags in Marshall. Spears tags in Avalon. Marshall with a hard punch knocks the wind out of Avalon’s sails. Spears sends Marshall into the barricade. Avalon with a leg lariat on Marshall, covers, Marshall kicks out at 2. Spears is tagged in. Marshall with a step-up enziguri, tags in Dustin.

Avalon is tagged in too. Dustin with a big right hand, Irish Whips Avalon, then powerslams him. Dustin sets up Avalon with the Natural Kick. Spears comes in and powerslams Dustin. Dustin lands the Code Red on Spears, cover, Spears kicks out. Leva Bates provides a book for Spears to use on Dustin. Spears hits Dustin in the head with the book. Back at the arena, the Nightmare Collective is on its way to the ring. Brandi and Mel with Luthor on their way to the ring. Then, Kris Statlander comes in and gets in the face of Brandi, and Mel steps between them. Hikaru Shida comes to the ring and is the number one contender for the title.

Brandi and Mel vs Statlander and Shida

Brandi and Mel attack Kris in the ring, and Shida pulls out a Kendo stick and attacks Luthor as she comes to the ring to help Kris. Shida runs them off and when the Kendo stick is dropped, Mel attacks Shida. She tosses Shida around the ring until Shida is able to hit a Rana on Mel. Statlander does a moonsault (that misses completely). Shida brings over a chair and uses it to get a leaping, running knee strike.

Mel is tossed back into the ring, and Statlander and Shida do a double drop kick to get a two count on Mel. Shida gets distracted by Brandi, and Mel hits her with a kick and leg drop before tagging in Brandi. Brandi gets a two count, and follows it up with a series of heel-ish attacks. While the ref is distracted, Mel comes in and takes over the match.

We get commercials without picture in picture, which is kind of weird.

When we get back, Mel is still in control and gets a two count on Shida. Mel locks in a headlock and Shida struggles to fight out. Shida is able to break away and hit a knee strike. Statlander is tagged in at the same time as Brandi, and Brandi drops to her knees and begs not toe be attacked. Statlander has none of it and hits kicks and clotheslines on Brandi. She pins Brandi and Mel breaks it up at the two count. Shida comes in with a drop kick and Mel and Shida fight outside the ring. Inside the ring, Brandi gets a spear on Statlander and a two count. Brandi tags in Mel, who hits a swinging slam and a two count.

Mel climbs to the top and Shida comes in, and hits an avalanche suplex, followed by a knee strike by Statlander for a one count. Statlander hits and standing moonsault, and while Shida tries to keep Brandi out of the ring, Brandi makes it in the break up the pin at a two count. Mel is able to fight her way out and get a double clothesline on Shida and Statlander. Statlander reverses a pickup by Mel and hits a pile drive on Mel for the three count.

Your Winners: Statlander and Shida

Casino Battle Royale winner: Nyla Rose

Leva Bates, Faby Apache, Priscilla Kelly, Solandra Royale and Nyla Rose are in first. Rose took everyone out. Bates was almost eliminated but she didn’t touch the floor; she landed on two books. She went back in the ring and Rose hit her with a book and eliminated her. Diamonds are next: Penelope Ford, Shazza McKenzie, Sadie Gibbs, Big Swole, and Britt Baker are in next. McKenzie was eliminated quickly. Rose did a double chokeslam. Big Swole was way over and her and Rose had a quick, good exchange. Rose is dominating early on.

Next out: Tenille Dashwood, Bea Priestly, Brandi Rhodes and Awesome Kong. Baker jumped Priestly on the outside before this group made it to the ring, revenge from Fight for the Fallen, I imagine. Kong dominated as soon as her and Rhodes hit the ring. Later Rose and Rhodes had an exchange and Rhodes hit a big stunner on Rose which elicited boos. Allie, Nicole Savoy, Teal Piper, ODB and Jazz are out next. Big chants for ODB on her entrance. Savoy and Kong faced off, then Kong whipped her into the ropes but she flew through them and did a tope suicida onto some of the wrestlers outside. ODB has a flask. Piper poked ODB in the eyes and put her in the sleeper. Nyla Rose eliminates Savoy. Rose and Kong now face off. Big pop for their lock up until Jazz gets in on it, then ODB. Bigger ODB chants during this four-way face-off.

Baker eliminated Kong. Jazz was also eliminated, and moments later Brandi was out too. The joker entrant is Mercedes Martinez. She has red hair and new gear now, and sounded like she got her own music. Huge response from the Chicago crowd here, a real superstar reaction. She planted Rose with a backdrop suplex upon entry.

Sadie Gibbs did a press slam to Bea Priestly but she botched the slam part. Regardless of that, she was eliminated by Priestly thirty seconds later. The final four are Baker, Martinez, Rose and Priestly. Props to Excalibur for calling a gamengiri kick during one of Baker’s spots. Martinez was eliminated quickly and the final three way among the AEW-contracted talent bgean. Rose did a step-up dance-kick thing on the aprong and kicked Baker. Baker did a Canadian Destroyer on Priestly, and a few minutes later Baker eliminated Priestly. Rose snuck in just afterwards and dumped Baker to the floor. Nyla Rose is your winner. She’ll face either Riho or Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women’s title on Oct 22 in Washington, DC.

Cody (w/ Brandi Rhodes, Diamond Dallas Page, MJF & Pharoh) defeated Shawn Spears (w/ Tully Blanchard)

Spears sat in a folding chair at the top of his entrance, an allusion to him hitting Cody with the chair. Blanchard followed him out after. Spears had white contacts in and looked like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. Cody and his crew were dressed in Star Trek-inspired tunics. Cody dove through the corner at Spears and Blanchard before the match. The fight spilled deep into the crowd before the bell had even rung, Hart vs. Austin Wrestlemania 13 style. Production got an amazing shot of Cody posing in the crowd while they chanted for him. Blanchard snuck over to Cody while MJF distracted Earl Hebner and landed a low blow, leading to an eruption of boos. Cody hit an ugly top rope frankensteiner on Spears. MJF kept trying to involve himself and yelled at Hebner to do his job properly. Hebner actually freaked out on Spears when he went to hit Cody with his own weight belt. He screamed at him and threatened to DQ him. Spears conceded but Blanchard slipped him his own belt his he whipped Cody with anyway. I guess that’s Hebner’s gimmick in AEW, tough as nails and dumb as bricks. Cody fired up and started no-selling the belt shots and the crowd really went into a frenzy. He landed a jump kick to Spears’ face.

At 20 minutes into the match both looked exhausted and rolled to the floor. Spears gave Cody a running Death Valley Driver onto the floor. Spears made it to the ring and Hebner started counting Cody out. Cody’s back looked bad, really tore up from one of the spots outside earlier. Cody was able to make it to the ring and somehow sneak a CrossRhodes in but Blanchard broke up the count. Blanchard and MJF then got into it in the ring and started choking each other until Spears took MJF out. Blanchard tarted stomping MJF on the floor until ‘Double A’ Arn Anderson stomped his way to the ring. The roof disappeared after this crowd exploded. Anderson had a look on his face that said “I don’t care for this foolishness, Tully Blanchard.” He got into the ring and squared up. Spinebuster. This place must have shook. Blanchard had no idea what to think and sold it like his plan was royally screwed after this.

Cody hit a “bowling-shoe ugly” draping DDT and then teased a chairshot. Spears begged off. Cody landed a Disaster Kick while Spears had the chair in his hands. He then planted Spears with a CrossRhodes to win the match. MJF celebrated with Cody in the ring though he teased turning on Cody as he’s done in Being the Elite recently. This was tremendous, and probably one of the best to happen in the States this year. The Arn Anderson angle had about as much heat as the KENTA/Shibata angle from a few weeks ago.

hey aired a video feature on Brandi Rhodes vs. Allie with the story of Brandi having self-doubts in her career and questioning whether she can compete in a high pressure situation. They tried to make Brandi out to be this sympathetic babyface.

Brandi Rhodes vs. Allie.

Just as the bell rang, out came Awesome Kong. So much for Brandi being the sympathetic babyface! Rhodes tried to nail Allie, who ducked it and took control early. Allie nailed a back senton splash for a two count. Allie brought her into the corner and nailed a big chop before looking at Kong. Allie came off the ropes with a high cross bodyblock for a two count. Rhodes was nailed with a kick. Allie went to the floor to confront Kong. They had a staredown before Allie went to return to the ring, only to be nailed by Brandi with a kick through the ropes.

Brandi poured a bottle of water on Allie to mock her, then slammed her into the apron. Allie made a comeback with the shots in the corner. Brandi nailed a kick to the jaw for a two count. Allie made a comeback but Kong grabbed her leg. Brandi nailed her from behind and scored a two count. Brandi nailed a neckbreaker. Allie came back with a series of offensive maneuvers, hitting a big forearm as she dove in the corner. Allie nailed a bulldog for a two count.

Rhodes kicked off Allie in the corner. Rhodes caught her with a snap suplex for a two count. Allie nailed a superkick and a running DVDR but when she made the cover, Kong pulled Rhodes to the ropes. Allie argued with Kong. Brandi grabbed her for a small package for a two count. Allie locked in a Dragon Sleeper. Brandi tapped but Kong had distracted the referee. Allie let the move go and argued with Kong and the referee. Brandi raked her in face and nailed a spear for the pin.

Your winner, Brandi Rhodes!

Allie vs. Leva Bates, The Librarian

Leva avoided a lock up and sssshed Allie.  The crowd chanted “Books suck.”   Leva went to do it again but Allie grabbed her finger and worked it over before stomping it.    She went to the floor, where Peter Avalon checked on her.  They showed Brandi Rhodes backstage watching the match as she’ll be facing Allie at Fight for the Fallen.  Allie nailed a Side Russian Legsweep and a crucifix for a two count.  She went to rebound off the ropes but Avalon grabbed her leg.  That distraction allowed Bates to nail her with a dropkick.

They battled back and forth with Bates gaining control.  Bates took her to mat and tied her up on the mat.  Allie made a comeback and nailed a series of chops in the corner.  Bates came back with a dropkick that sent Allie down in the corner.  She drove into her with a pair of knees but Allie kicked up at last second.  Allie ducked a clothesline and nailed a hangwoman’s neckbreaker.  I could have SWORN I heard a “Reading Rainbow” chant, which if I did, that’s insanely clever.  Allie nailed a big forearm strike to close out a series of offensive manuevers for a two count.

Bates escaped a Firewoman’s carry and nailed a lungblower.  She nailed a faceplant and scored several two counts.  Avalon tried to interfere, tossing a book to Bates but Allie intercepted it.  Bates argued with Avalon but was nailed with Allie’s finisher the BSE and pinned.

Your winner, Allie!

They aired a great video feature on Cody vs, Darby Allin

Cody (with Brandi Rhodes) vs. Darby Allin

They  locked up and Allin controlled Cody’s arm early.   Cody finally gained control with a big side headlock takeover and maintained control.  They had some nice back and forth wrestling.  Allin offered a handshake and shocked Cody with a La Magistral for a two count.  Cody had enough at that point and drilled him with a big uppercut.

Cody nailed a hard whip into the corner that sent Allin flying to the floor.  Jim Ross quipped, “Darby Allin’s body broke his fall.”  Allin returned to the ring where Cody worked over his shoulder and drilled him hard with a suplex for a two count.  Cody controlled Allin, who kept kicking up, showing his versatility and ability to withstand punishment.  Cody nailed a lariat that sent Allin inside out.  Cody worked him over for a long time, to the point I half expect Allin to score a surprise win here.

Cody went for a delayed vertical suplex, but Darby broke free, going after the hand and fingers Cody hurt earlier.  He hit a twisting splash off the ropes.   Allin locked in an armbar until Cody made it to the ropes, forcing a break.  Darby followed up with some big offense including a Code Red for a near fall.  Allin went to the top rope as they announced five minutes were left.  Cody cut him off and nailed an inverted superplex off the top.  That elicited a big “AEW” chant.    I am guessing a draw.

Allin regained control and had Rhodes on the apron.  He went for the Coffin Drop backwards off the top but Cody moved out of the way and Allin took an EVIL insane bump on the corner of the apron.  Rhodes nailed Allin and placed him inside the body bag that Allin carried to the ring.  Cody stood him up an d kicked him down, then took him out of the bag.  Allin still kicked up and regained his footing before going back down.  The crowd chanted for Darby.  Cody covered Allin, who kicked up at one.  Cody began lashing him with his belt.  He went for CrossRhodes but Allin nailed a stunner.   Rhodes nailed another CrossRhodes but the bell rang as Cody had him down for a two count before the referee could count the third fall.

Time limit draw.

As a match designed to show Allin as someone who won’t back down despite extreme punishment, it was a very good effort.

They teased they may do five more minutes but Shawn Spears hit the ring and hit Cody in the head with a big chairshot to the head.  Cody didn’t put his hands up, so expect a lot of criticism for that one.  Cody was bleeding from the back of the head.  Brandi got in the ring and Spears acted like he was going to go after her but the referee got in between them.  MJF, who has been linked to Cody in storylines, hit the ring with a chair.  Scorpio Sky and Kazarian came out to the ring as well.  Lots of blood from the back of Cody’s head.  They had ice pressed on the back of Cody’s head as he left the ring and was walked out by Dean Malenko, MJF and Brandi.
